Easily Compose Percussion Grooves

I love to make music on my pc . Its great the way technology today allows you to compose music with the help of a good DAW , some plug-ins and of course a good library of samples .

Nowadays you can buy a good DAW for a reasonable price of $150-$300 depending on your needs . Of course there are more expensive tools , specially if you are going to invest in hardware or even a few top quality vst products .

From FL Studio to Logic or Reason , the world of music making has been completely altered in recent years with the ever expanding sonic power of virtual synths , that up untill recently were still very limited .

So this explains why so many people have now the hobby to play with music loops , explore v-synths , make some beats or compose their own trackz.. And you don´t have to be to serious about it neither , you can just have fun and let your creativity do the rest !

If you are like me then your biggest problem is probably finding the right sounds , that fit organically into your mix without sounding obviously artificial .. Its easy to end up with something that has no soul unless you have real musicians standing by to jam with you .

Obviously that i am referring to capturing that real sound that only an actual instrument can deliver .

Normal solution would be to go deep into your library of samples and instrument hits and try to sequence a pattern of bongos or congas so that they sound natural ..maybe you add some reverb or a delay to build up the depth of the sound ..

At time this works..if you know what you are doing you may actually produce a cool percussion groove that is not obviously synthetik in origin .

Other times it just doesnt work . No matter how you tweak it it seams the percussions dont quite make it into the mix . This is where you start thinking..” Boy , if only i had access to a good percussionist that doesnt charge me a fortune to record a solo for this composition “…

The solution may just be easier than you thought . What i do is i use a sample library called ” Future Percussion ” for all my percussion loops needs .

This is a real excellent library with over 60 instruments , over 1300 percussion samples including single drum hits to build your own grooves from scratch using high-quality sounds .
