Play Sonic Games For Hours Of Fun

Sonic The Hedgehog is a video game character and the hero of the video game series released by Sega. Sonic is now one of the world’s most famous game characters, and tens of thousands of fans love to play Sonic games for fun and entertainment.

Sonic is a blue-colored hedgehog who has the ability to run faster than the speed of sound. This power is a major part of the game play of the series. Whether you play Sonic online or offline, you’re sure to love the speedy hedgehog and his super-powered acquaintances like Tails the flying fox, Knuckles the Echidna, Blaze the pyrokenetic feline and Amy the female hedgehog.

Sonic is known as the world’s speediest hedgehog. His greatest strength is his astounding running speed, but many of his other powers are variants on the propensity for hedgehogs to roll into tight balls for protection - with the addition of spinning his body. Sonic’s principal attacking tactic is the basic “Spin Attack”. Later games in the series expanded on this standard attack, creating the “Spin Dash” which involves Sonic spinning on the spot prior to blasting off at full speed, and the “Homing Attack”, where he dashes in midair toward a target.

One distinctive and repeating feature when you play Sonic the Hedgehog games is the golden Rings (sometimes referred to as Power Rings or Magic Rings) scattered throughout the levels. This game play device allows players having at least one ring to survive upon taking damage from an enemy or hazardous object. Rather than dying, the player’s rings are scattered. Usually, a hit will cause the player to lose all of his rings, but in certain places it only costs a set number of rings instead of all of them. Collecting 100 rings will usually reward Sonic (or any other playable character) with an extra life.

The Chaos Emeralds are seven emeralds with magical powers, and are another perennial feature of Sonic games. Many sets of emeralds have appeared in several places like South Island, West Side Island and Angel Island. They are the basis of most of the games’ plots, and the player is frequently required to collect them all in order to defeat the super villan and achieve the games’ “good endings”, super forms, or both. In some plots, the emeralds can be found in hidden locations within the principal levels. In most later games, they are chanced upon by the characters during the games’ story modes. When seven Chaos Emeralds are collected, Sonic can induce a super transformation into “Super Sonic”, a faster and invulnerable version of himself with the added power of flight.
